As Spring is (supposedly) getting closer it sometimes feels wonderful to shake things up a bit, to look at our life routines and habits and ask ourselves; “What could I do a little bit differently?”
As common place as it may sound - Spring is a GREAT time to plant some new ways of doing things and see what sprouts forth.
Yes, I am being a bit obvious with the metaphor, but come on, it got your attention didn’t it?
Watching, paying attention to, the cycles of Nature can give us insight into rhythms that might be healing, helpful, healthy or just plain fun … for our own lives. Spending time in Nature (if you don’t already do so) may be just what you need to freshen up your days this year.
So what else could you shake up?
How about your eating habits - is it time to try a few new foods or get rid of some food items that are compromising your health?
Many people want to try a new activity - good weather is a great time to get out and do just that.
Perk up your wardrobe! It’s easy now with recycled clothing stores so plentiful these days.
How about the things you are doing to deal with the stress in your life? Do you realize that stress is the number one contributor to all that is not right in our lives? That’s right, no matter what isn’t working well for YOU, be sure that stress is a major factor. When we work on de-intensifying the stress component in our lives, the negative situation we are dealing with becomes more manageable, solutions to problems can “magically” appear, and we feel better overall.
There are many, many ways we can freshen up our patterns, daily practices and routines:
Do something nice for someone else (with no pay back expected)
Clean a closet
Stand up straight
The list is endless!!!!
With all that said, dealing with stress is the best place to start. From that point on all other changes you choose to make seem much easier and more enjoyable. I should know, it’s one of my areas of expertise.
So come on, challenge yourself this season - do SOMETHING differently .. and most important attend to the stress in your life and … take a deep breath. There, you have already begun.
